Two-family homes, mixed roofs and common repairs
Many Bayonne streets are lined with two-family and three-family houses, some with pitched roofs covered in asphalt shingles and others with flat or low-slope sections over additions and rear porches. A single house can have both types, with transition flashing between them.
Those transitions, along with chimneys, vents and dormers, are where leaks tend to start. On the pitched sections, missing or curled shingles are common. On the flat sections, worn seams and ponding are typical. We examine each part separately and recommend repair or replacement for each.
A house that has had several additions often has several roof ages at once.
